Scott started by creating what is known as a “squeeze page” for my website.

A squeeze page is simply a lead generation page offering something of value in exchange for a visitors email address. Maybe you’ve seen a few web pages like this before?

Squeeze pages are an extremely effective way to convert visitors into a lead or sale.

I was unsure at first; however Scott highlighted several profitable examples of this strategy being used with great success.

Scott then wrote a series of 15 follow up emails and imported them into what is known as an email autoresponder.

When prospects responded to my offer and entered their name and email address into my website, the autoresponder automatically sent out these emails in a pre-determined, timed sequence.

The emails were designed to educate my prospects about how the printing industry worked, what to consider when buying and how, as a print broker, I was able to leverage my buying power and contacts to negotiate better deals for my clients through large wholesale printing firms.

This clever little follow up strategy gave me several key advantages:

  • It allowed me to stay in constant touch with prospects throughout the buying process so I was always top of their mind.
  • It helped educate my prospects about their purchasing decision and shaped their buying criteria around my services.
  • It helped me build relationships with my prospects and position me as a trusted expert whom they could feel comfortable doing business with.
  • It also helped pre-sell my business and services, meaning all I had to do was speak to prospects and take their orders once they were ready to buy. (Selling became much easier.)
